Hygge Yoga

Give your body and mind a much needed rest from all the ‘doing’ and ‘busyness’.

Hygge pronounced ‘hue-gah’

Isn’t that lovely? It’s like a hug and an ‘ah’ feeling.

Hygge is a Danish word (my Mum was Danish) that’s tricky to define in English. The closest translation is ‘cosy’ or ‘comfortable’ and that’s exactly the atmosphere and and state of mind I like to create in my classes.

What is Dru Yoga?

Dru Yoga is a beautiful flowing form of yoga that helps to relax, unwind and stretch out the body. It can help revive tired muscles, reduce back pain and combat stress. It gives the mind a chance to stop and relax, to help people find a quiet still point in their busy lives.

For EVERY Body

Designed to be practised by people of all abilities, all fitness levels and all age groups – including the inflexible and unwilling! Modifications are a key part of Dru Yoga making it truly accessible for EVERY body.

Questions? Here’s some answers.

  • Absolutely no problem at all. Dru classes are suitable every body - beginners and more experienced yogis can all benefit from Dru yoga. It would be an absolute honour to introduce you to yoga if it’s new to you.

  • You don’t have to be bendy or flexible to enjoy Dru yoga classes. One of my teachers always used to say “If you can breathe you can do yoga!” And she’s so right! Each of the postures and sequences are taught in stages and so everyone can find what works for them and their body.

  • Wear comfortable clothing - anything stretchy - that you can move and breath easily in, plus an extra layer such as a jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt. Most people wear leggings and a t-shirt. No footwear is required. You might like to bring a pair of cosy socks too for the relaxation.

  • Please bring a yoga mat - most people prefer to use their own mat for hygiene reasons and so they can practice at home. And in this post pandemic world, yoga teachers are advised not to provide any equipment or props. If you don't have a yoga mat Amazon have a good range or alternatively sportshops, TK Max or Argos are good places to try. Please also bring a cushion and a blanket for the relaxation part of the class. If you have a yoga block and / or strap please bring them with you too. Please also bring water in a bottle or container with you to drink during the class.

  • Ideally yes - it would be great if you could do that. I always ask new members to complete a health questionnaire before joining the class so that I’m aware of any health considerations in advance. Also there are likely to be restrictions on numbers in our new socially distanced world so please do book in advance.

  • You can pay by cash, cheque or by bank transfer.
